The Los Altos Community Foundation (LACF) was founded in 1991 on John W. Gardner’s vision of building community through shared values, communication, participation and leadership.
The Foundation supports a variety of programs funded through charitable contributions and bequests from individuals, families and businesses and other non-profits, targeted for funding local community programs in the greater Los Altos area.
Foundation initiatives include:
Bus Barn Stage Company
Day Worker Support
Elementary Education projects
Leadership Training
Mediation Services
Teen Team Building, Training and
Mentoring
LACF acts as a fiscal sponsor, assisting in the management of funds related to community–based funding campaigns.
LACF offers services for donors to support civic, cultural and educational activities in the community.
Community members are invited to become Founders by donating a one-time gift of $1000 (payable in installments) to LACF. By becoming a Founder or by establishing their own fund in the foundation, all citizens can be philanthropists and give back to the community.
The foundation is a 501(C)(3) tax-exempt organization.
